Thai Sunset is a modern restaurant tastefully decorated in browns and creams. The tables are high quality mahogany and the comfortable seating is two tone leather. The walls are adorned with many wall hangings imported directly from Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand. This all adds up to a relaxed atmosphere enhanced by the melodious background music.

The restaurant has been designed to accomodate the disabled and boasts two wheelchair friendly entrances at the front and back through our rear entrance direct from the free car park in Kemp Place.

We are very proud to say that so many of our patrons tell us that our food is the best Thai food they have had outside of Thailand and we are sure you will agree when you visit Thai Sunset.

Whilst the cuisine is definitely Thai, it is mainly based on Bangkok style, which makes the menu most varied because it has taken the best of the many other regions of Thailand to make Bangkok cooking so rich in the many flavours of the herbs and spices of Thailand. This, coupled with the creativeness of Thai Sunset’s vastly experienced chefs, makes for a menu that is mouth watering. Whether it is the more usual favourites such as green curry or putt thai to the maybe somewhat unfamiliar pbet makarm (crispy duck in tamarind sauce) or goong mungorn pongaree (lobster tail in yellow curry paste).

For guests who are not familiar with Thai cuisine we have put together 6 varied set menus with 2 selec tions especially for vegetarians.

The à la carte menu has 15 starters from which to choose, two of them for couples to share, and including golden bags, those little wonton delicacies, grated chicken, sweetcorn, peppers, onion and garlic - a real treat. Thai soups are a speciality of the house with tom yum goong being one of the most popular, which is prawns in a hot and sour broth with lemon grass, limes leaves, coriander and mushrooms.

Also featured are eight salads and fourteen
curries, both red and green, for the
connoisseurs of such delicacies, and the
tender beef in red curry with coconut milk
and lime leaves comes well recommended.

And so onwards through magnificent stir fries,
nine fish dishes with sea bass, red snapper and salmon, culminating in the special dishes.
No Thai meal is complete without rice and
noodles and here at  Thai Sunset there are
fifteen from which to choose, each of them
delicious in their own right.

To complete your meal we have a varied dessert selection featuring banana split or a more Oriental dish, coconut with palm sugar wrapped in a pandan leaf pancake and served warm with one scoop of ice cream.

Our wine list is chosen from across the world taking heed of the sensibilities of the cuisine. For instance a chenin blanc from South Africa provides just the right sort of clean and ripe fruit flavours. Other favourites include Pinot Grigio Porta Italica, Foundstone Shiraz Rose and Hazy View Pinotage.

Being a large restaurant of almost 100 seats, Thai Sunset is well placed to hold many different types of functions such as weddings, birthdays or business meetings. Please call and we will be delighted to assist you with your requirements.
